SPEAKERS

Brian Johnson
Vice President of Communications, ADP
Brian is a communications strategist and relationship champion who has guided top corporate leaders to inspire and persuade audiences. A journalist by training, Brian draws from extensive experience in media, corporate communications and marketing. He joined ADP in August 2017 as Director, Communications, supporting the Comprehensive Outsourcing Services business unit. A year later, he was promoted to Vice President, Communications, overseeing all internal and external communications for the President of National Account Services, ADP's largest division providing Human Capital Management solutions for some of the world’s biggest brands.

Prior to ADP, Brian was part of the Corporate Communications team at Newell Brands, a global consumer goods powerhouse home to everyday brands from Sharpie markers and Elmer’s glue to Yankee Candle and Crock-Pot. He provided strategic communications support and counsel to Newell’s CEO, CFO and Chief HROfficer. He was credited with transforming the CEO’s global town halls from a regular quarterly meeting to an inspiring event employees didn’t want to miss. He has also held roles at Clear Channel Communications, Cox Enterprises and the American Red Cross, where he was tapped to lead a worldwide Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) digital campaign in partnership with Facebook. Brian spent six months based in Geneva, Switzerland, designing and implementing a global digital campaign strategy to raise critical funds in the fight against Ebola, while also driving a global communication plan to raise awareness. The digital campaign was one of the first of its kind for Facebook.

Before making the move from journalism to corporate communications, his work was featured on major TV networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and in People. Brian scored a rare sit-down interview with the late Coretta Scott King, widow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He has been recognized as Journalist of the Year and named to Who's Who in Black Atlanta in 2020, a list of the most influential and inspiring leaders. Another passion of Brian’s is giving back. He actively engages in the Youth Motivational Task Force, a program with a 47-year history of bringing African American professionals back to Historically Black Colleges and Universities to help motivate and inspire the next generation of leaders. He is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Black Public Relations Society of Atlanta. A Purdue graduate, Brian holds a Master’s in Communication and a Certification in Strategic Communication Management. He earned a Bachelor’s in Communication from Xavier University of Louisiana.

Carmella Glover
Executive Director, Diversity Action Alliance
Carmella Glover joined Page as the Director of DE&I in August of 2020 and has been Executive Director of the Diversity Action Alliance since July of 2019. In her role, she provides strategic direction for Page’s DE&I initiatives. She oversees the operations, programs, budget, and strategic plan of the Diversity Action Alliance (DAA). The DAA is a cross-industry coalition led by communications trade organizations with a mission of accelerating progress in meaningful and tangible achievement in diversity, equity, and inclusion in the field for people of color. Before she transitioned to Page, Carmella was the first-ever Executive Director of the PRSA Foundation. She oversaw budget, compliance, programs, and operations for the charitable arm of the PRSA – also focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Glover brings over ten years of corporate experience from L’Oréal USA, Procter & Gamble, and Johnson & Johnson. Before transitioning into Diversity Communications, Glover was a subject matter expert in supply chain and
manufacturing operations. She was designing the organizational strategy for and leading a team of supply chain managers at L’Oréal U.S.A. Glover was accountable for the successful launch of luxury skincare products netting $100+ million in new sales annually, which required close partnership with Marketing and PR business partners. These cross-functional partnerships would be the impetus to her transition into communications. Other operations in her purview included internal communications, intranet newsletters, blog posts, and occasional media relations.

Being the only female engineer and often the only Black leader in a room of decision-makers, Glover quickly discovered the synergy between her skill and purpose.

In May of 2019, Glover was the recipient of the Logos Institute Rising Leader Award and a keynote speaker at the New York University School of Professional Studies May 2019 commencement. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology and a Master of Science degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications from New York University. Glover is an active member of Newark’s Beta Alpha Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, wherein she exercises her zeal for philanthropy. She resides in North Jersey with her husband and daughter.
